A short report from Ladies Afloat on their last dinghy session

Last week Ladies Afloat took advantage of the sunny, calm weather and September’s balmy sea temperature to practise dinghy skills and safety boat procedures in the club boats and Quest dinghys. We all know that ‘if you don’t use it you lose it’ so we went right back to the basics through various scenarios. It was great fun to discuss, and then to put into practice, things like towing and approaching a capsized dinghy safely, all without a strong gusty wind or risking the wet crews getting hypothermia! We drew quite a crowd in Warfleet Creek as we practised righting a capsized dinghy. And the biggest bonus? We all had such fun!

This was our last dinghy session of the season. But it was such a great way to wind things up and we now have everything crossed that 2022 brings us a long and favourable sailing season on both the Quests and member’s boats.

We are also thinking maybe we should issue a challenge to Boys in Boats for next season: What about it gentlemen? How about a combined dinghy session?
