Cruising Group Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions for RDYC cruising events on the water (racing or cruising keelboats or motor boats)

1. The skipper shall be a fully paid-up member of Royal Dart Yacht Club.

2. Should an event have to be cancelled before it starts then all monies will be returned to participants. The organisers retain the right to vary the programme at any time.

3. Vessels attending the event are to be covered by adequate third party and public liability insurance; minimum £2,000,000 for any one accident.

4. The event organisers and/or organising body shall not be in any way liable for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused to the owner, skipper, his/her crew or other persons on a boat, as a result of their taking part in the event. Moreover, every skipper/owner warrants the suitability of his/her yacht/boat for the Event and that his/her boat is insured for taking part in the event.

5. Any suggested anchorage/mooring/berth/harbour is made in good faith and it is the sole responsibility of the skipper to ensure that the anchorage/mooring/berth/harbour is suitable for the vessel under their command in the prevailing conditions of weather, tide and crew ability.

6. When participating in an event with RDYC the safety of any yacht/boat and her entire management including insurance shall be the sole responsibility of the owner/skipper who must ensure that the yacht/boat is fully found, thoroughly seaworthy and manned by a crew of sufficient number and experience who are physically fit to face bad weather. The owner/skipper must be satisfied as to the soundness of the hull, spars, rigging, sails and all other gear. He/she must ensure that all safety equipment is properly maintained, stowed, in-date and that the crew know where it is kept and how it is to be used. The owner/skipper must have insurance cover for the sailing area relevant to the event. The event organisers and/or organising body accept no responsibility for the safety of any participating vessel, or its crew. The decision to sail and all handling of the vessel and its tender are at all times the responsibility of the skipper who should take his/her decisions knowing the abilities of his/her vessel and of his/her crew.

6. Acceptance of these Terms and Conditions are a condition of participation in any RDYC Cruising Group event involving keelboats or motor boats.
