The traditional Royal Dart Yacht Club start to the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta was very well attended with 150 members and guests enjoying a drinks and conversation on the RDYC terrace. In between some of Hayden's finest canapés it was noted that this was the 175th year of the regatta, started when Queen Victoria was just 23 years old. The event was granted Royal status after the Royal Yacht "Victoria & Albert" came into the harbour during a storm and the Queen was made very welcome by all the Dartmouth townsfolk. Now the event covers a very wide range of activities including some much anticipated Start Bay sailing - winds and seas looking lively for the week.
