Boys in Boats: Programme for 2022

The Boys will be back in Boats again in 2022!

Meeting on Tuesday mornings from April to October-ish we will have the usual mix of regular sailing and special events. Most weeks we will sail out into Start Bay for a couple of hours, have a coffee on board, perhaps fly a spinnaker, and return for lunch on the terrace.

It’s difficult to put exact dates to each event so we will let you all know as the season progresses. But there are a few fixed points. The working parties (March 29th and April 5th) are great fun and help the club enormously. We bring the dinghies down from the barn and move them out onto the pontoons. The more of us who come the quicker and easier it is.

Lunch at the Maltsters is a good way to get the season going, but very tide specific. 10th May is the only Tuesday in the year when the tides are right to be able to get there.....….and back..

The Brixham fish and chip run needs favourable tides too and 5th July is ideal with a bad weather backup on 19th July. Or if you want another lot of F&C!

We hope to fix a date to sail Lulotte with Ben, and possibly Peter Lucas’ wonderful Gaff rigged yacht, Cynthia, which he restored himself. Seascapes, perhaps a Tofinou Day and other special events are planned.

If you have a boat, are free on Tuesdays, and would like to bring it along for a sail, BiB can provide a crew. And if you do not have a boat but would like to sail anyway, BiB can provide boats. All very informal, usually decided on the day, and rounded off with lunch at the club. We hope from June the bar will be open for food, but until then bring your own.

Ask Melinda or Suzanne in the office to put you on the e-mailing list to get the regular communications.

All dates are provisional and weather dependant.
