The Cruising section of RDYC welcomes both Sail and Motorboat owning members. We enjoy regular cruising along the stunning Devon and Cornwall coast, with occasional hops across the channel. Some like to spend longer periods in the Channel Islands and Northern France, or go further to Southern Brittany, Ireland, the West Coast of Scotland, or the Baltic. We also have members with boats in the Mediterranean, or who join an ARC rally and enjoy winter in the Caribbean.

Whether we sail as families, friends, couples or single-handed, the opportunity to socialise in the clubhouse, in our stunning position on the River Dart, is always a joy; to share tales, tips, and enjoy cheery banter in convivial company. A busy social program throughout the year is always a priority, to create a friendly hub of activity when off the water. Friday night suppers occur throughout the year (on days that do not clash with other organised events in the clubhouse).

This group has the objective to connect members and boats and open up new friendships and crewing opportunities. A warm welcome is assured for new members.

The group is facilitated by Richard Balfry, the Cruising Co-Ordinator, with the help of additional volunteers, who organise many shore based activities and socials, as well as rallies in popular locations, or to tie in with a major external event.
